What Are My Options If I’m Missing All of My Teeth?

We actually see a lot of geriatric patients who have not taken care of their teeth for many years because they were focused on taking care of everybody else, their children, their spouses, or their families. Now they’ve reached a point in life where they finally want to take care of themselves and their teeth.

A lot of patients come into our office with teeth they describe as “jacked up” or in a horrid situation. When that happens, we start fresh. We remove the rotten teeth, eliminate the decay, and evaluate what healthy teeth can still be saved. From there, we replace whatever is missing with implants, crowns, or other restorations that fit your needs and budget.

If you’re missing all your teeth, there are several options available. The best choice depends on your preferences, goals, and financial situation.

If your budget is more limited, a full upper or lower denture can be a cost-effective solution. Dentures are removable and can restore basic function and aesthetics.

If you’re able to invest a little more, or if financing is available to you, implant-supported restorations provide a more stable and long-lasting option. One option is a snap-on denture, which is removable but securely attaches to implants so it does not become loose. In some cases, we can even retrofit your existing denture to work with implants.

The highest-tier option is a fixed bridge. This restoration is permanently attached to the implants and stays in place like natural teeth. Fixed bridges offer the most natural feel and function because they do not need to be removed for cleaning. You simply brush and floss regularly using an electric toothbrush or water flosser.
