What If I Don’t Have Enough Bone for a Dental Implant?
In this video, Dr. Rose Magno explains how mini implants are ideal for patients with insufficient bone.
If you’ve been told by another dentist, oral surgeon, or periodontist that you don’t have enough bone for traditional implants, you’ve come to the right place. In many cases, patients who are not candidates for traditional implants can still benefit from mini implants.
Mini implants are designed for situations where the jawbone is thinner or has resorbed over time after tooth loss or damage. They are very narrow and require less bone density, which makes them an ideal solution for many patients. As long as you have enough height and we can locate enough bone, most likely, yes, we can place mini implants for you.
To determine if you’re a candidate, I’ll need to review your X-rays and conduct an examination. Once I assess your bone structure, I can confidently determine whether mini implants are a viable option for you. Let me take a look at your X-rays, perform an exam, and I’ll find the right solution to restore your smile.
One of the advantages of mini implants is that the procedure is quick and straightforward. It’s a one-step procedure, not two steps. In many cases, it heals the same day. Depending on your situation, we can often place a temporary crown or even a permanent crown the same day. If a tooth needs to be extracted first, then we need to wait for the socket to close before placing the final crown, but you’ll still have a temporary crown in the meantime.
