In this video, Dr. Rose Magno explains the warning signs of gum disease and how poor oral hygiene can lead to serious dental problems over time.
Gum disease is when you have a lot of bacteria in your mouth, and because you’re not taking good care of it, like if you’re not flossing every day or two to three times a day, you’re not brushing your teeth properly, those things cause inflammation of the gums, which is what we call gum disease, and that means there’s a lot of bacteria around the gums and then it starts causing problems. It starts eating up your teeth, which causes cavities. It starts eating up your bone, which causes periodontal disease. And so all those things come together. So we want to make sure that you’re keeping your health, or your oral health, in good shape so that everything else that we do for you will last a long time.
