We often see patients come to us because they don’t like how hard it is to chew and talk with their loose dentures. Mini dental implants can be a great solution if you’re struggling with unstable dentures and want something more secure. They’re often ideal for patients with bone loss, as well as those looking for a faster, less invasive approach compared to traditional implants. Mini implants for dentures are the answer to your floppy false teeth.
Dr. Magno provides several implant denture options. Every single one stabilizes your prosthetic, so you can actually eat and smile again!
Benefits of Mini Implants for Dentures
When mini implants secure your denture, you’ll have much more stability. You’ll be able to bite more naturally, allowing you to eat a wider variety of foods with much greater comfort! Right away, you’ll also notice that you can speak more clearly without worrying about your denture moving around while you talk.
Compared to conventional dental implants, mini dental implants offer a far less invasive experience due to their improved design and simplified placement process. Traditional dental implants can require months of healing before a prosthetic can be secured on top. Because mini dental implants are less invasive, many patients leave the office with a temporary full-arch replacement all on the same day!
When you’ve been missing teeth for a long time, it’s normal to experience jawbone loss. This is because the roots of your teeth add healthy stress to the jawbone, helping keep it strong. When you lose your teeth, the jawbone tends to lose volume, a process medically called bone resorption. This is a problem if a dentist uses traditional implants to stabilize a denture. Conventional implants are quite large at about 5 mm and only work for patients with sufficient healthy jawbone. On the other hand, mini implants are less than 3 mm wide, and often work for patients with much thinner jawbones without the need for bone grafting.
Your Implant Denture Options
So, how do mini implants actually improve your denture? At our practice, we use them in three different ways, depending on your goals. On the most affordable end, we can stabilize your denture with the snap-in denture. A nice middle ground for patients interested in a more high-end result at a cost-efficient price is Fix-on-Six®. Finally, when you want the most premium result, the permanent denture is the most beautiful, high-end, natural replacement.
Snap-In Denture
The snap-in denture is similar to a traditional denture. The main difference is that a snap-in denture is stabilized by mini implants. Instead of relying on denture glue, the snap-in denture has O-ring components underneath that snap on and off 4 to 8 mini implants. The snap-in denture is the most affordable denture option, especially if you already like the way your current denture looks! Dr. Magno can convert an existing denture to a snap-in by adding the O-ring attachments on the same day that she places the mini dental implants.
Depending on the quality of the false teeth, a snap-in denture can last up to 10 years with proper follow-up care.
Fix-on-Six®
Another approach is the semi-permanent roundhouse bridge, which is also known as Fix-on-Six®. This option is a step up from a snap-in denture, while still being more affordable than a fully permanent denture. It’s a zirconia bridge that sometimes includes a bit of pink porcelain “gums,” depending on the structure of your mouth. The full-arch replacement secures onto 6 to 10 mini implants, and you’ll never remove it yourself. Instead, Dr. Magno removes it at routine follow-ups for a professional deep cleaning.
With proper care, Fix-on-Six can last 10 to 20 years.
Permanent Denture
The most beautiful, lasting denture is a permanent roundhouse bridge. This zirconia bridge cements onto 10 to 12 mini implants. Once positioned in place, it never comes out. The fixed bridge looks and functions most like natural teeth. They’re also the most durable option among the alternatives. If you follow all the right care instructions, this option could last you 10 to 20 years or longer.
The bottom line is this: mini implants for dentures open many opportunities for you to enjoy a more functional, beautiful smile. When Dr. Magno learns more about your goals, she’ll recommend the best implant denture for your situation.

If you’re dealing with loose, uncomfortable dentures that flop around, mini implants for dentures offer a more stable full-arch replacement you can actually depend on. The simplest, most cost-effective solution is a snap-in denture. Meanwhile, a more secure, semi-permanent option like Fix-on-Six® could provide the perfect balance of affordability and luxury. Finally, the permanent roundhouse bridge tends to look and feel the most natural. Thanks to mini implants, you don’t have to deal with an unreliable, loose denture anymore!
